#SilasSundays: Volume 13 {PLAYLIST}

Follow me on SoundCloud and Twitter @EyelessSilas.

#SilasSundays: Volumes 1-10 can be found here, 11, 12, 13 (below)

We have reached the unluckiest of numbers in the #SilasSundays series  (which, strangely enough, fell on this “carnage-filled” weekend), but fret not readers and listeners: the content of Volume 13 does not share the same fortune as the numeral superstition may lead.   This wide-ranging compilation of sonically interesting sounds are brought to you on a weekly with the best of the best being crowned with an official bold designation.

You may have heard of these artists but missed a loose promotional single they released in 2012.  You may have never heard of these artists before but heard a similar rendition that tries to emulate the “unknown artist’s” original composition.

With each passing week, I aim to unearth a few known unknowns to keep your music rotation fresh and free from stagnation. The approximate time length for the 11-track playlist hovers around 40 minutes. A low investment in time that yields a high return value; it’s worth pressing play without hitting skip once.

  1. DOJA CAT – Casual (prod. Troy Noka & Yeti Beats)
  2. Flying Lotus – SDS (Instrumental for Mac Miller’s track off Watching Movies With The Sound Off)
  3. A$AP Rocky – r. Cali
  4. izzeYe – Rolling Dice
  5. 6LACK – Never Know
  6. Homeboy Sandman – The Carpenter
  7. J Dilla (RIP) ft. Nas – The Sickness (prod. Madlib)
  8. Bibi Bourelly – Perfect.
  9. Earl Sweatshirt ft. Vince Staples & Casey Veggies – Hive
  10. Capital Steez (RIP) – Apex (prod. Kirk Knight)
  11. De La Soul ft. David Byrne (of Talking Heads) – Snoopies

Not really feeling a wordy explanation for the inspiration behind the cover photo for this week. Richard Spencer, (aka White Nationalist, Neo-Nazi, alt-right creator bro) got punched in the face by a protester after the inauguration on January 21. Violence is never the answer…but…just Google some of his quotes if you’re unfamiliar with his material.

After you’re finished, come back and enjoy clips of the punch heard around the world, synchronized with music that accentuates the beautiful cinematography.

Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight

The Notorious B.I.G. – Hypnotize

Bruce Springsteen – Born in the U.S.A.

and my personal favorite:

Kendrick Lamar – M.A.A.D. City
