#SilasSundays: Volume 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

After an extended hiatus, #SilasSundays are back with a vengeance for 2017! For returnees, thank you for all the clicks and support that you’ve shown in 2016 for not only this series, but to EVRYDY in general; we appreciate it more than you’ll ever know. For those new to EVRYDY, where the f**k have you been welcome to the site, thanks for checking us out and our mission statement remains the same: we aim to provide you with original, high-quality content for 2017 and beyond.

My weekly drops typically consist of 11 songs, but because of our month-long break in preparation of the EVRYDY relaunch, I decided to load up Volume 10 with 22 tracks for your earholes. Consider it my Holiday gift to you. You, being a stranger, made out better than people I actually know in real life in terms of receiving a gift from me.

My goal with each chapter in the series is to unearth top notch sounds that you may or may not have heard of from artists that you may or may not have heard of. While the playlist has a strong hip-hop presence, an assortment of soulful crooners, unabashed rockers, and unique producers usually make their way onto the playlist. Like previous Volumes (which can be found above), the best selections for the best selections of the week are indicated in bold lettering. To get a good feel for the playlist, start with those. I highly encourage you to listen to the whole set for the week. Use it as a soundtrack to procrastinate your responsibilities. After all, that’s what Sundays are meant for.

This week’s cover photo is inspired by 2016. Around December of every year, taking inventory of the events that transpired in the previous 11 months leads the general public to believe that the current year was indeed the worst year of all time. For the first time in my brief adult life, I can’t remember a more unprecedented headache of a year than the one we just experienced. A series of improbable Championship run for a handful of professional sports teams (a broken Peyton Manning beating the vaunted 18-1 Panthers, Cavs coming back from being down 3-1 in the Finals against the best regular season NBA team of all time, Cubs doing the same for their first title since 1906, and wtf Leicester City), an upset of historic proportions in the US Presidential Election, Brexit, and list of celebrities and notable figures that died this year made 2016 feel somewhat apocalyptic.


2016 in a nutshell.

We all need to hit the reset button and recalibrate for a fresh start. Shake off the stink of 2016. At the very least, the absurdities of this past year will be a wake-up call for most. For me, the shocking headlines and events for 2016 led me to take inventory of what’s really important in my life: family, friends, and good health. I have no idea what is going to happen over the next 12 months. Some tragic events? Unfortunately, probably. We can choose to wallow in the mire or we can rise above the fray.

My plan is to work even harder this upcoming year, towards my goals, against my faults, and with loved and trusted ones. The only difference between 2016 and 2017 is 24 hours. Let’s continuing working towards our dreams without leaving a wake of destruction en route to success. Last thing and probably the most important thing: don’t be an asshole.
