#SilasSundays: Volume 1, 2, 3, 4

Today marks the 1 month anniversary of the #SilasSundays series here on EVRYDY. Trust me, I’m just as surprised as you are that I’m still allowed to do this on a weekly basis. I’m going to attribute the fact that I haven’t received any death threats yet over bad song choices does indeed mean that I am doing a semi-decent job with the selections. Many thanks to the people checking back in each Sunday for the latest collection of obscure, yet fresh tracks assembled into a quick hitting, 11 track playlist for your convenience.  The best of the best for each week are just that, but they are especially so for this week. Check them out and let me know on Twitter which tracks you liked the best! Or feel free to completely trash my picks; I’ll be around for any useless internet arguments.

  1. Big K.R.I.T. – Free Agent (prod. Big K.R.I.T.)
  2. Denzel Curry – Threatz (ft. Yung Simmie & Rob Bank$)
  3. Larry Fisherman (Mac Miller Producing) Mellowhigh (ft. Hodgy Beats & Domo Genesis)
  4. Tedi Andreas – Mercedes (ft. Alex Emami)
  6. Zack the Lad – I Want It
  7. Jae & Oliver – Billy Kid
  8. Berhana – Janet (Must Listen for Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans)
  9. ESTA – 1738
  10. Solange – Cranes in the Sky (Kaytranada Remix)
  11. Ari Lennox – Cold Outside

This week’s cover photo was inspired by the oft-misunderstood Kanye West, for a couple of reasons. In the latest Google search alert for “Kanye rant,” the results will yield commentary about Ye’s diatribe aimed towards Jay Z and his lack of support for the family after Kim Kardashian’s incident in Paris. “Don’t call me after the robbery and say, ‘How you feelin’?’ You wanna know how I’m feelin’? Come by the house . . . Bring the kids by the house like we brothers . . . Our kids ain’t never even played together.” Kanye then went on to describe complications with other music collaborations between himself and HOV, which can be heard below.

There are grumblings from several media publications that Jay Z treated his relationship with Yeezy as more of a business partnership, while Kanye was under the impression that it was more of a kinship. I’m just hoping the latest Kanye outburst is nothing more than publicly venting after a traumatic event happened in the family; he is accustom to such behavior. They’ll get past this minor riff and I’m still keeping hope alive for Watch the Throne 2.

Moving on to more important things. The main reason why I chose this cover photo for Volume 4 is because Kanye West is holding up a Penn State jersey with his signature cheery disposition that we’ve all come to know and love. My Alma Mater, Penn State, pulled off one of the biggest upsets in our football program’s history, beating the #2 ranked Ohio State 24-21. Did I lose my s*** when this happened? Of course I did.

If things couldn’t get any better, the Nittany Lions are ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2011. I am beyond hyped. THE Pennsylvania State University. #whatsabuckeye
